The Circular Nature of Change
September 4, 2008 5:32 pm Friends and HealingI had prospects of a job that did not work out but I have another temporary job that is even healthier for me. I am doing landscape work for some friends. I can do the work gradually and it is good to be outside. All in all I am settling down to a new routine. I talk with my sister a couple of times each day and we meet for lunch a few times each week.
The idea that change is circular came to me today as I went to visit my sister. The adjustment this last month has been somewhat difficult but I could not put it into words. I found myself having very few words replaced by quiet feelings. I feel stronger now and know that part of the circle of change is to feel more connected.
I have written before about the roller coaster road to my sister’s house. The fullness of nature is wonderful on that drive. I knew I had come full circle in this process of change when I saw one of the eagles that resides in just the same place as I have seen her before. Instead of swooping low as I passed by, the eagle was flying high in the sky. The message of change from the spirit of eagle seemed to encourage me in my new found independence. This seemed to be the part of the circle that keeps my feet planted on the ground while risking to reach for more.
There are other parts of the circle of change and I want to be patient and yet deliberate in allowing the flow of the circle to to light my way. While I continue to be grateful for being vertical in the face my illness I am drawn to the movement of the circle and the life sustaining change happening in my life.

I think it’s lovely that you are able to make so many connections between yourself and your environment and how many symbols there are for you. It seems to really help you understand yourself and what’s going on for you better. I’m glad that this has been a positive journey and that you’re able to maintain a positive attitude in this “circle of change.”

Dear Annie,
I’m so glad to hear you’re adjusting to your new home. Personally, there is nothing that makes me feel better than gardening, so I’m really glad you’re able to do it and make a living.
It’s sounds like you’re approaching this change in a truly positive way, and I applaud you! All my best!

Annie,
I to see symbols and meaning in the birds and animals that surround me. I see eagles soaring above the farm in the spring, i even had the opportunity to save an eagle’s life, which I consider a great blessing for me.
I am really happy to see your journey progress and to see you accepting the changes even when the unexpected happens. That is hard to do. Take care,
…aqua

I”m not sure this fits here or not but when you said change is circular I thought of my favorite symbol of not just change, but growth too and that is the spiral…
we go over the same stuff over and over again, but ever on upward and each time we revisit the “circle” we are up at least one tier above the las time we visited that spot in the circle…
this is a vision I had when I was very young–I came up with it independently, but it appears that many other greater thinkers than I use this symbol too…
am I out on a limb? or does it tie in here at all?
I too am so glad you are settling into your new life.
peace.

Annie–
It’s good to hear that things are working out well for you and that you are feeling grounded and connected in spite of all the changes you have made. That’s a very good sign! It sounds as if you are doing very well indeed! I’m so glad you are enjoying your new home.

My dear friends, thank you so much for your comments. I wish I could respond to each of you but I seem to be limited in managing my new routine. I will soon return to my routine of responding to your comments but as for now I will just read them. Thanks for your support. Annie

When you wrote about the eagle, it reminded me of the verse in Isaiah:
“They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not be weary, they will walk and not faint.”
Take that flying eagle as a sign to you, from God, that He is going to restore you and heal you. You will soar!!!
